Getting to Know Jed
JMD: Tell us a little about yourself. How did you get into Street Fighter?
Jed: I started playing Street Fighter V back in 2017. When Street Fighter 6 dropped, I jumped in just a week after launch!
JMD: What was your first Street Fighter game, and what got you hooked?
Jed: Street Fighter IV was my first. At the time, I only knew Ryu and Hadouken—I didn’t even know how to Shoryuken properly!
JMD: What makes Street Fighter stand out for you compared to other fighting games?
Jed: It’s a pure, fundamentals-based 2D fighter. I love how it boils everything down to skill and decision-making.
Gameplay & Practice
JMD: Who’s your favorite character in Street Fighter, and why?
Jed: Zeku! Both his young and old forms are just too cool.
JMD: How do you prepare for tournaments or online matches?
Jed: I don’t have a strict regimen—I just warm up with casual matches at the venue before the tournament begins.
JMD: How do you approach learning new characters or moves?
Jed: I don’t switch characters often, but when I pick up new moves, I just watch strong players and steal their techniques. Shoutout to Yagami for the inspiration!
JMD: What’s your go-to move or combo? How do you use it effectively?
Jed: Kimberly’s running stance is super versatile. I can cancel into an overhead, plus frames, a grab, or mix it up with a shimmy—it’s a mind game every time!
JMD: How do you stay calm under pressure in tournaments?
Jed: I just focus on playing the game. If I get nervous, I remind myself that it’s all part of the fun.
Competitive Experience & Thoughts
JMD: What’s your most memorable tournament moment?
Jed: My first SF6 tournament, Road to Rev Major Manila at Mall of Asia, was unforgettable. I had just returned to Street Fighter after playing Tekken, and I placed 2nd! Going from a nobody to the main stage in front of a crowd was unreal.
JMD: Who’s the toughest opponent you’ve faced, and what did you learn?
Jed: I learn something from every match, but the toughest opponents? One-and-done online players—I don’t get enough time to adapt to them!
JMD: What do you think about the competitive scene right now?
Jed: The Philippines has an amazing FGC. It’s full of passionate players and great friendships.
JMD: What keeps you motivated to keep competing?
Jed: The thrill of the competition and playing for fun. That’s what keeps me going!
Personal Preferences & Insights
JMD: Favorite Street Fighter stage?
Jed: Training stage—clean, simple, and no distractions.
JMD: Any characters that give you trouble? How do you handle them?
Jed: No character is impossible. Every matchup can be learned.
JMD: Do you have any pre-match rituals?
Jed: None that I’ve noticed.
JMD: How do you balance gaming with real life?
Jed: It’s just a game like any other. I play when I have free time.
Goals & Advice
JMD: What’s your biggest goal for the next year?
Jed: Top 8 at CPT—that’s the dream!
JMD: Any advice for new players who want to improve?
Jed: Play for fun, don’t overthink it—enjoy the grind!
JMD: Any upcoming Street Fighter updates or new characters you’re looking forward to?
