Testimonial for JMD Custom Fightstick
“When I came back from China, I was determined to switch from using an arcade stick to a leverless controller. I wanted extra buttons, but the well-known brands like Victrix and Razer didn’t offer that option, and they were pretty expensive. That’s why I went with JMD. They built it exactly how I wanted—the layout, design, and button colors were perfect. The craftsmanship is top-notch, and I’m really happy with it. I might even buy another one! Thanks, JMD!”

Getting to Know You
JMD: Can you tell us a little about yourself and how you started playing Street Fighter?
RJ: I started playing Street Fighter when I was 5 or 6 years old. We had an SNES at home, and my dad and I used to play together, even though we didn’t really know what we were doing at first! (LOL)
JMD: What was the first Street Fighter game you played, and what made you like it?
RJ: The first one I played was Street Fighter 2. I loved it because of the stages, the way the characters moved, and especially the soundtrack.
JMD: Why do you enjoy playing Street Fighter more than other games?
RJ: Initially, I played Tekken and loved it. But when my dad asked me to buy Street Fighter 4 on the PS3 so we could play together, I started focusing more on Street Fighter. That’s when my SF journey really began.
Gameplay & Practice
JMD: Who’s your favorite character in Street Fighter, and why do you like them?
RJ: Sagat! I just feel comfortable using him. I like his old-school style of play—throwing projectiles and keeping distance.
JMD: How do you practice for tournaments or online matches?
RJ: Training mode is my go-to. Spending time in the lab is essential for improving.
JMD: What’s your strategy for learning new characters or moves in Street Fighter?
RJ: My first priority is always learning the frame data of a character. Once I understand that, everything else falls into place.
JMD: What’s your favorite move or combo, and how do you use it in matches?
RJ: My favorite is the Tiger Knee. If you space it correctly, it’s plus on block, which can give you a big advantage.
JMD: How do you stay calm during important matches, especially in tournaments?
RJ: Staying calm is tough. The key is not letting your opponent know that you’re feeling any pressure.
Competitive Scene & Experiences
JMD: Can you share your most memorable Street Fighter tournament experience?
RJ: One of my favorite moments was when we played against Macao or Indonesia. We didn’t win the match, but I managed to defeat one of their high-ranked players. That was pretty satisfying!
JMD: Who’s the toughest opponent you’ve faced, and what did you learn from that match?
RJ: There were so many great players back then—PBE, SB, and Fairview boys. It was a different time, and you really had to practice hard to make it into the top 8.
JMD: What do you think about the current competitive scene in Street Fighter?
RJ: Here in the Philippines, it’s not as active as it used to be, but we still have a lot of talented players today.
JMD: What keeps you motivated to keep improving and competing?
RJ: My friends always remind me that I have potential and that I shouldn’t waste it. Over time, I realized they were right.
Personal Preferences & Insights
JMD: What’s your favorite stage in Street Fighter, and why?
RJ: Definitely Alpha 3 Vega’s stage. The music in that stage is amazing!
JMD: Are there any characters you find difficult to fight against? How do you handle them?
RJ: I struggle against gimmick characters sometimes, but the key is to hit the lab and study the matchup.
JMD: Do you have any habits or routines before a big match?
RJ: Yes, I usually strategize in my mind before the match begins.
JMD: How do you balance playing Street Fighter with other parts of your life, like work, family, or school?
RJ: Right now, balancing everything is hard. I work 6 days a week, but I still try to make time to play.
Goals & Advice
JMD: What are your goals for the next year in Street Fighter competitions?
RJ: I want to go full-time and improve my skills even more. Hopefully, Sagat will be added to the roster in the next season!
JMD: What advice would you give to new players who want to get better at Street Fighter?
RJ: Enjoy the game and make sure to attend local casuals whenever possible. It’s a great way to learn and improve.
JMD: Are there any upcoming Street Fighter updates or characters you’re excited about?
RJ: I’m excited for Sagat, the removal of throw loops, nerfing drive rush, and hopefully some balance patches.
JMD: Where can people follow you and keep up with your Street Fighter journey?
RJ: You can find me on Twitch: H1ghscor3_, Facebook: H1ghscor3, and TikTok: H1ghscor3.
